Problem with Ecodiesel

Well rather all 4th gen (09-19) Ram 1500s.

Sorry can’t seem to turn these pics right side up.
When the truck turns 1 million kilometers the Odometer tripmeter current fuel economy and distance to empty stops working. I see this as a Mfgr defect or programming error that they should replace no charge. The digital HD instrumentation clusters I’m told do not do this. Retail cluster I’m told is $900. FCA has offered to cover half of the part price so my cost to fix would be $680. Your thoughts?

Yea it should be covered as a manufacturing defect. Somebody at FCA dropped the ball. If they take into consideration how rare this will come up, paying for it is a good publicity no brainer.

Just more evidence even the software designer has little faith in the VM.3.0. The Truck trans made it to 621K mile, both of VernDsl engines are less then 350K Miles.

There are 1000s of 5.9,6.7 Cummins, and 1000s of Duramax and Many Fords with 600K+ miles, With functional OD.

Yes the Replacement should be at no charge, Its the first I've heard of this. The Law requires it to be Functional, VernDsl Uses it for commercial use, IFTA would flag the truck not to mention the DOT, Yes the agents write down current mileage at spot checks.

Apples to Oranges TC. Big boys don't adhere to the same restrictive emission standards. And many, if not most, of the 600k mile motors you speak of have no emission equipment. Plus the VM 3.0 is also only just now 5 yrs old in NA and has entirely been produced with restrictive emission standards. I'm not a fan boy, just keeping your negativety in check.

Brady its OK, the VM 3.0 is 13 Years into production, Just 5 years in the USA. No, the High miler's (Many) Have emission in tact, and Verns is not OEM either. Yes the Classes all have the same On Road standards of CAA 2007.5 to current.

In Europe it does well, in 3000Lbs Cars, I do tip My hat to Vern he's pulling Max most of the time, My guess he's talented Road Worthy and very skill in the seat.

All fourth gen 1500s have this problem not just the diesels. My first motor pushed a head gasket at 371k. I have to fix it just not sure what route I want to go. I already have 7k unregistered miles. 2nd motor now has 257k. I know because all paid miles are on Mfgr Bill of ladings.
