Ask your dealer was the EGR cooler replacement the new updated permanent fix EGR cooler replacement. Or prior to this where all they could do was put in another one that would eventually fail. Post a close up pic of the exhaust tip. Does the exhaust have a faint white smoke to it even after...
Cutting to the chase and practically speaking from much experience pick a TT with a dry weight of 7k or less. Follow shadowabre's example and you will have a setup that is stable easy to drive and can stop confidently. If you plan to tow in the mountains an aftermarket tune that provides a...
Bruno55, I aftermarket tuned my original motor at 33k to turn off EGR to improve longevity & minimize repairs, improve mileage, power, add turbo brake etc. Deleted due to clog at 260k miles but didn’t delete the EGR cooler. On a long cross country TT tow it seems low coolant from leaking EGR...
Glad FCA took care of you. I have heard both 2 & 3 years unlimited mileage warranty not sure which is correct. Mine puts in serious travel trailer towing mileage weekly. The longer full operating temps seem to do best for the motor and emissions systems.
You can't get a real pronounced shutter or lugging with the 8 speed and or for very long. But if its in a taller gear usually 8th going up say a minimal grade or into some head wind with or without a trailer it can certainly load the motor IE bearings on the verge of being noticeably lugged...
Your welcome. I think owners deserve to get both options and they can decide for themselves. Never a question if FCA can choose to attempt to void warranty with a tune. Although now with an EPA compliant tune that retains all factory safeties it might be a hard sell for FCA to the judge. You...
1. Maybe in part. FCA is not saying.
2. NO it will be a the same as you have now only brand new.
3. It used to be the balance of your 100k but I have seen FCA cover beyond that. I have no reason to doubt Ironcity 3yr 100k.
4. Yes. And I believe they were successful. I don't know the specifics...
Hello Amess. The safest most stable setup & "legal" or rather Mfgr & DOT compliant for non commercial use is found and can concretely be set up via CAT type triple scale results. Not always necessary on well within capacities loads but sometimes critical for the safety & stability of towing at...
Ye ole Ecodiesel hits 400,000 miles yesterday coming home. Talked to fellow transporter James his is at 428,000 miles. Ye ol girl took a 6,500 pound 27" floorplan Airstream from Ohio to Cali. This time I was coming home empty so I was babying her as usual. For those that don't know the original...
Thanks biodiesel. It seems the forum sent some kind of auto link to my email. Anyway yeah 382,000 on this motor with its sole issue being the reluctor or tone wheel failure. That makes it a very “green” engine compared to one where the EGR kills it in half that time. Previous motor had head...
Have you considered the crate motor or used off car-parts interchange? The crate came with new high pressure fuel pump, injectors, new turbo all expensive items plus 24 month unlimited mileage warranty and little down time for exchange. What at first brush might seem Expensive provided good...
Don't be a dolt I used hate figuratively. Perhaps read it again I did not ask or advise anyone. I shared information that largely seems to be hidden from people over here.
The reluctor wheel is in the process of some sort of recall replacement. So hopefully in the near future these replacements will be paid by FCA and hopefully also those like myself who have paid for this repair will get it refunded.
The emissions system including the factory tune especially after the AEM government detune is killing these trucks. The EGR soot & Asphaltene (unburnt diesel hard particles) recirculator is clogging oiling ie lubrication passages causing bearing failures. At least that's the rumor and what...
