2016 fuel filter

So I have changed my fuel filter of course it was the new design. Just changed from the old. I am noticing that my millage is decreasing much more than before I was already driving with the diesel for a week before the change is it possible I did not install the filter properly ?

Unless it's leaking out, shouldn't be anything to worry about.
