Brand new 2014-2019 Catalytic converter for Dodge Eco-diesel

In secure storage lies a brand new Catalytic converter that fits Dodge Ram Eco-diesels year models 2014-2019. This part was purchased at a Dodge dealer by my father-in-law for his 2015 Ram (receipt in hand) but further diagnostics eventually revealed that an oxygen sensor was the issue but not before the 15 day return period had passed. He is hoping to recoup some of the incredibly inflated price that the dealer charged when these were hard to get and is asking $1500 plus shipping.
