Don’t do it! It’s extremely simple and if you have the 8speed they’ll want almost a thousand bucks from you... for about 2 hours of time and $500 I did it myself with a PPE trans pan upgrade and almost slapped myself for almost agreeing to let the dealer do it. They told me the trans would lock up if I did it myself and it did NOT need to be “authorized “ with the wytec scanner. You do however need to follow the steps to ensure you fill it properly and with the new pan and serviceable filter ppe gives you an extra 2qt capacity. Plus it looks cool and dropped my trans temp 12 degrees!

Glad you had a great installation. The dealer network for cars definitely has its shortcomings and over charging is one of them. I just bought a new 5th wheel camper and had it down to two dealerships. The one closest to me wanted $900 labor to install the 5th wheel hitch. Said it was 6 hrs labor plus the cost of the hitch $1300. I did it in two hours and it was my first time. I think the 2nd one would have been a hour like the Hitch people said. So I used the dealer that was about 1.5 hrs away and paid a bit more from my camper but have a good dealership that doesn't gouge me. I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee with an EcoDiesel and am working on installing the same pan on it. Lots of frame interference so the pan will have to be modified to fit. Again congrats on your new pan an oil change. I am also installing a trans filter and shifting over to Amsoil trans fluid.

Many of us have been using MaxLife ATF, it is certified for Use in 8HP70/75 Transmissions.
Milvetac, I will disagree on the drop temp, Its regulated by the Trans heat Exchanger. The Extra 2QTs will take longer to warm up, nothing wrong with More Lube.

The Coolant exchanges temp with the AT Fluid, its bolted on the drivers side of Trans (Trans Exchanger). I was shocked by the running temps on My 2014 8HP70ZF was, so I made some calls 140F-200F is ZF recommended Running Temps, Their have been 8HP ZFs with 400K+ miles error free on proper service guidelines.

If I may, I would not recommend using any other fluid in the 8hp70 trans... blow the extra money on the mopar fluid and avoid any issues! The pan comes with the filter in the package so you can hold off on purchasing a separate one unless you are referring to a remote filter unit? Dealers are crazy for sure, I took my ed in for the vo8 recall and got saved by my expansion tank leaking. (Pretty sure they cracked it) but that’s another story, anyway they wanted 850$ to replace it... I laughed, picked up my truck, got a mopar factory replacement for 73$ And 20 minutes of time. Screw the stealers, I get your a business but dayyyum Gina

To each their own, I didn’t want to pull the trans out again and there was too many conflicting arguments over the fluids so in the “better safe than sorry” Logic I went factory to alleviate any issue. Re: temp-I drive about 2-250 miles a day, before the service I would sit at 202deg after 40 minutes and since I hadn’t breached 188... may have simply been from putting new fluid in or the pan combo I’m not smart enough to contemplate how the entire system works in relation to what was done but I know what my gauge says 🤷🏻‍♂️

i would love to see this truck get to the 400k mark without having to rebuild the whole thing. If anything kills the truck though it’ll honestly be the electrical system before the mechanics of it imo.

They can last, but extreme measures need to be Taken. DD use and grocery getting plagues Most Bluetec Dsl engines, the 3.0VM is just more problematic.
If you don't have the Alfa OBD II MX Yellow , get it, its a valuable tool for any Ram Dsl
