Fuel Filter correct one?

2014 recently purchased. changed fluids and all filters.
The filter on the left is the one i removed.
when I order new ones, and went to Dodge Dealer, I get the one on the right that says it is the replacement for the AA.
The one on the right is almost 1/2 inch shorter than the original.
I questioned at the Dodge dealer and they said it's the one called for. Used VID number at dealer.
Does the difference in length not make a difference?

Yes. I questioned the same thing and told by many eco drivers that this is the new style. I will be installing mine in about three weeks so I guess I'll know for sure then, but VanDiesel in Ohio who knows everything about these engines says it is the new, correct one.

Just a heads up when you do change your fuel filter. Make sure you put the filter all the way on without the cap. It is tight, just a warning. But it goes on all the way. Just had to reset mine 3 times before I got it all the way up. Also make sure bottom blue gasket on filter is seeded secure before you put cap back on. Hope this helps.

I too compared the filter side by side and while the new style is indeed a little shorter it is also a little larger diameter. I assume it has the same amount of surface area.
