Noisy torque converter or trans?

I purchased a 2016 regular cab 4X4 with 31K. Love the truck but my only complaint is the noise that either the trans or torque converter makes, sounds like a whine. I hear it the most when backing up.
Are these transmissions typically this noisy?

The simple answer is no they don't normally make a whining noise & are actually a pretty quite transmission. The long answer is, There's a lot of components that can cause a whine sound. Things like u-joints, transfer cases, ring & pinion gears, low transmission fluid, Turbo charger or exhaust leaks, etc. The tough thing is identifying which part is the actual bad actor.
