Sorry to hear that Kraylock...it has been about six weeks since my 2014 ECO was laid to rest with 144K miles on it. I decided to try something different and go "profession grade" ... still miss my ECO though... hope you are up and running again!!
Well, I found a dealer who I feel like gave me a fair price for my 2014 Eco-Diesel considering the engine was toast, and I decided to go ahead and dive in and try to put a little professional grade in my life for the time being...I will check back periodically for status updates...
Probably the or route...cant afford the 15K for a new motor right now ...and just dont think I really want to put in a low mileage reconditioned one either, I have to try and find a dealer to buy it as is, and see how close to getting out from what is still owed... which is a lot ...I make my...
Thanks Brady & BoostN... I am in a world of hurt ...Up until last Wed, I would have told anyone the eco-diesel is one of the the best trucks on the market, and I am of the opinion and still do believe you can get the most bang for your bucks in a loaded out Ram (feature wise) as anything, but...
OK, I am going to ask a dumb question, but here goes...My beloved Ram 1500 Eco Diesel with 144K miles on it broke down on me yesterday...I had been hearing a knocking sound for over a week from the engine compartment , but no other symptom other than I had also noticed a few mpg dip ...

That's my problem, I cant tell that anything is wrong except when it is idling ...I have had two of my customers recently notice that it was knocking ,but once I get rolling it is business as usual ... it is hard to know what to do, I really dont want to pull it off the road for an extended...
I have not taken it in as of yet...it seems to be running fine, with the exception of the knocking sound and the drop in mpg... trying to decide if I want to go ahead and maybe try to trade or not...I am sure not prepared to buy a new engine!
It was a dealer in the eastern part of Texas. I did not verify ... it was just his response to my question of what did he know about the latest Eco Diesel conflict with the EPA
I think had the same thing happen at about 120K...I kept losing coolant into the exhaust , got that fixed and everything seemed to be fine for awhile, now at 143K getting the dreaded knock from the engine. I too, dont know where to go from here...
