I haven't met a service writer that knows much about cars. I never take their advice. I usually tell them what I want. Then I sometimes show them my ASE master truck technician card.
Going to change mine soon, at 125k miles. Best to watch a YouTube video, not hard to do but there are a few tricks. Such as check trans with a level, shift from 1-2 with button as you get fluid up to temperature. I'm going to use the zf fluid. Don't want to risk using something else
When my truck had 20k on it the throttle code came up. Took to the dealer and he changed air filter and cleared code and it never came back on. I wouldn't have believed it but he said that was the procedure and it worked. So I change my air filter at 20 k now and going to start changing the fuel...
Possible the coolant leak is the EGR cooler, goes down slow and no sign of leaks . Knocking sound different animal, most of the time a bad head gasket if it's blown out of motor will sound like air leaking not knocking. I would pull the oil pan and look for bluish hugh on the rods or crank...
I've been having the same symptoms, what did you end up finding. I also used red silicone so I'm going to install the gasket first. Injector only has about 3k miles, so I don't think it's that. Code usually comes on after warm up when the truck sits for at couple weeks. Otherwise it doesn't come...
The only oil I would use is rotella t6, 5-40. When I bought my 2016 there was a service bulletin to remove the euro oil and replace it it with rotella. They thought that was the issue with crank bearings. So that's all I use
I've been getting that code also. It is a generic code, meaning it could be the def system not cleaning the DPf we'll enough, clean your def injector, look into it when you remove it. Could be the Nox sensor not reading correctly, could be an exhaust leak. Have to go step by step to rule each...
Just took my 2016 ecodiesel in and the EGR cooler is bad again. Probably about 50 k miles on the one replaced. Had about 65k miles on the original. Hope the new one is better. And this is after I just fixed the exhaust that burned the DEF injector and def line. Had to fix myself cause the way...
