It really is that simple. Once done, cycle the key to listen to the pump prime the filter. The pump sound will stabilize and you're good to go! It's a 5 minute job.
Your truck came with a warranty, and if they replace parts under that warranty, they are only covered for that warranty. You don't get a new warranty, or any extension beyond that. If your warranty is over, after the repair, make sure that there are no issues with the repair or you will be on...
I changed my filter after 1 year of use. 65,000 km. it had exactly 0 water. Other than a darker colour, it probably could have been put back into use! I guess I found a clean fuelling station.
2018 ED, 23,000 kms, my GDE tune seems to be doing well for me with the cold starts on the East Coast. -28oC (real temp, not "feels like")on several occasions. I do use Shell premium diesel or AMSOIL "all in one". So far, starts right up, no white smoke, very little cold diesel knock.
Testament to the GDE which disables the EGR and its soot loading characteristics, after 1000kms without a GDE tune, the oil was a black as we come to expect with Diesel engines. After installing the GDE tune and changing the oil, the difference is more than just "slight". After 10,000 km on...
get a GDE trans tune and you'll not have the 8-7 downshift because of a minor load. Other than remapping, you will also be able to manually select which gear you want (within certain parameters).
plastic will transfer engine bay temps less, and might transmit engine noise less than will stainless. Since the part is not very visible, there is also little "bling" value to adding stainless.
During a pan drop and refill, you cannot get the other 3 Qts, out. It is mostly held up in the torque converter, plumbing, and internal parts. The best way to get rid of if is through multiple changes over time as a regular maintenance item.
I have seen too many problems with various vehicles using K&N air filters. Oil particles end up on MAF sensors and coating the inlet tubes with a film of oil, and unfortunately, also a lot of dust. I would not advise.
I took advantage of the 2018 clear out prices and saved nearly $20,000. I now have 18,000 km. With GDE tune, I'm getting 7.2-8.2 L/100km at 100-110 km/h. I pull a 20' travel trailer with 0 issues. Mileage drops to 13L/100km+-.
very happy with the truck and the fantastic fuel economy.
