'15 longhorn I purchased new, got a vacuum pump around 75k, delete at 90k, tone wheel and cranksensor at 115, Turbo at about 190 (put a new tone Ring on while transmission was out). Currently around 235. Still gets upper 20s and is very comfortable to drive. Removed the air suspension which was...
Unfortunately, it does sound right. The tone wheel is sandwiched between the flex plate and the crankshaft. The trans has to come out to access it, that's why it's so expensive. This happened to me a few years ago. There is an ECM update available (dealer) for this. Essentially, it tells...
I’ve replace tone wheel and cranksensor to no avail , only thing I think may have been a mistake was buying an aftermarket sensor, so I’m going to get a dealer one next
Hello all, about 6 months ago I was driving on the highway and I noticed for a split second as if I lost power while I was accelerating. The first complete stop I came to after that my truck shut off. Attempted to start it back up and it wouldnt start until it sat for a few minutes. I didn’t...
I wasn't aware that massive oil loss was associated with that particular issue, but I had that recall completed a few months ago if its the recall that had to do a software update on.
Based on what the video shows, that looks like it could be tone ring failure (mounted between crank and flex plate) that damaged the sensor, which ended up "taking out" part of the aluminum pan up by the rear main bearing/seal.
Yes, I don’t think the tone ring or the cranksensor was the issue. The truck still started and drove before and after the tone ring and sensor was replaced.
Hello everyone. I am new to the community. Been reading a lot of post on the Ecodiesel. I really appreciate this community.
Back at the beginning of Summer, I was towing an empty short trailer. I came to a stop then went to take off, heard a *piff* sound lost all power, service throttle body...
Ya I wrote this up a few months back, and there's a uTube on it; can drop the transmission and do it from the backside. Plus gives free Access to the 50$ tone wheel for the crank position sensor that Delaminates after about 100k. Bet it was roomy without the cab though
The dealer had my truck today. They checked tranny fluid and codes-everything OK but problem still persists. I now think it is in the transmission. Not sure what to do next? Any suggestions are welcome. I am thinking about replacing the pan/filter so see of something is restricting the...
There definitely a piece of mind that comes with just having it done. A new tone wheel and crankshaft position sensor gives just a couple less things to worry about on an aging vehicle.
When my 8 year warranty was up on the tone wheel I just paid to have it done, along with a new crank shaft positioning sensor and rear main seal just because. I kinda considered it just insurance/maintenance as my truck has been 100% trouble free and I thought it was better than losing it on a trip!
Yeah they have recall out on the cp4.2 hpfp as does most every other diesel from various manufacturers that run a cp4. Honestly I expected it to be your tone wheel for crank position sensor, which comes around 90-115k, but accept the inconvenience and let them pay for it. Apparently you've had...
