Check your fuel pressure from the lift pump, if it reads anything under 53 psi replace the lift pump. If that’s good check your PCM for stored codes. If you hook up a oil pressure gauge and it reads 20psi you’re good, under and your oil pump is going out and will quit leaving you stranded. For...
Yes, it is strange. I was confused as well but a great guy I met in AZ that owns his own shop gave me access to Identifix which has all the info from the manufacturer. I have learned that engine inside and out so if you need anything, let me know
The actual fuel pressure regulator is on the right side, end of the fuel rail. Not hard to change out. The fuel control actuator is on the fuel pump.
They are metering the fuel at both ends
So the high pressure fuel pump does tick when in operation, that’s why they have a black cover/noise guard over it.
Oil leak is probably the left side timing cover. They do require “high torque RTV” if he will be fixing that himself
Check your lift pump pressure with a gauge, not a scan tool. I used my scan tool and it lied to me. Anything under 54psi change it out. It should be between 54-64psi. If that’s good then pull the fuel return line off of the right side fuel rail( next to the fuel pressure reg.). Turn the truck...
I’m in the same boat my friend. I am trying to fix it myself but have come across an issue with my injection timing. Trying to figure it out, dealership is no help, paying out of ass for a paper weight basically!
Hello,
So I’m battling the dreaded fuel pump issue in my 15 ecodiesel. After changing everything out I am not getting fuel through the fuel rail by the pressure sensor. My computer saids my injection timing is 210 degrees. Has anyone come across this before??
The injection is electronically...
Alright,
So the harmonic balancer bolt is reverse thread. After fighting it for a couple days by hand and borrowing a friend’s impact (which did nothing) I broke down and bought a Mil. 1400flbs impact. Zipped it right off!!!
In case anyone needs to change out their oil pump, it’s a pain in the...
I tried that also, for about 2 hours, hence why the head of the bolt is getting chewed up a bit. From my understanding it is not reverse threaded correct???
Well, I would think so too. I was on it pretty good the other day, so good in fact the impact was starting to mess the head of the bolt up, I’m going to keep spraying it down with penetrating oil and give it another go.
Hello Forum land,
I have a 15 Ram ecodiesel. My oil pump is shot. I’m in the process of changing it out and I can not break the balancer bolt.
I’ve tried everything but turning my engine over because I have the oil pans off already.
What is the deal with this mother f-er????
Please advise! I’m...
