FCA insider document reveals current engine failure rate.

Curious to find out from Vern how he drives his rig, but I know the answer!! Don’t drive like a teenager! Warm up, idle down, smooth on throttle and avoid banging off rev limiter. Good maintenance, good fuel and conservative mods that reduce stress on motor and drivetrain. I drive a diesel...

FCA insider document reveals current engine failure rate.

I talk to every Ecodiesel owner I get a chance to and never a complaint. I spun a rep onto one a few years ago and he has well over A 100k on his and not an issue. I’m sure there are some issues like ANY engine but overall they seem solid. Modifications, care, driving habits, environment and...

When you ripped off the emissions did you throw codes etc? How did it effect mileage and how it performs? Love to know what equipment you are using such as exhaust tuner etc!!! Thanks

    Engine oil Bypass filter

I agree as far as who makes the ultimate decision if they are pulled into the loop!!! After 30 years of dealing with motor vehicle warranty issues a large majority of issues are non related to a non stock part. The catch is always do you have an intelligent shop enough to know that! Can't tell...

    Engine oil Bypass filter

I agree with the amsoil system and great info!! I'm concerned with warranty compliance! I need to find a dealer that will install it and agree it does not violate warranty if there was a mechanical issue!

Have you done a full emissions delete also ( no def). What differences have you noticed? Engine temps, mileage? Thanks

    Engine oil Bypass filter

Mopar makes a bypass system for the cummins. The Moss Magnusson warranty act states that there has to be a "direct cause and effect". In other words if I change the stereo and my crank goes out, they can't say since I changed the vehicle my warranty is void. BUT so much is determined by the...

Mike I am jealous!!! I use to live in Bellevue and really miss the Seattle area!! For starters the truck is bullet proof! I spoke to Banks power and Gale Banks reputation is everything to him! He selected the engine because it is over-engineered! He made intake changes and some electronics and...

My 16 Limited has been perfect also. The only things I have done is tried to get premium diesel at cenex when possible. I have 11k on Pooky (my truck, it was a smart A nickname my lil brother gave my Dad who recently passed). Oil changed at 2k to get break in oil out at dealer and rotella t6...

    Engine oil Bypass filter

Boostn the ecodiesel has won a plenty of rewards, plus Gale Banks loves the engine and uses it for military projects. After many years in the motorcycle industry stock stuff is usually very reliable. It's when people screw with stuff that typically causes the problem! The very few that have...

    Engine oil Bypass filter

I called Amsoil and the tech dept said to use the universal system. I need to find a competent shop / installer before I do it. I am comfortable doing most things but this is pretty critical to have it done right! FS2500 makes a kit but it's double the money!!

I am seriously looking at doing a full emissions delete! These rigs are a huge investment and I bought it for longevity and fuel economy! The emissions crap destroys both! Thanks for the info! I have never heard of that oil but I will read up on it!! Drive safe!!

    Failed ecodiesel

Shawn from Mopar ecodiesel (RIP) had his 14 ecodiesel fail at 144k because of a cam timing sprocket rotating and put thing out of timing. Yours sounds like it might be a rod or main bearing! Just my opinion but I feel the emissions system kills a diesels longevity. I bought my ecodiesel for a...

Msp548 is correct regarding the lubricity of biodiesel!! It actually has 300 times the lubricity of ULow sulfur diesel!!! Little less energy but more lube! It seems to be a consensus that BD absorbs a lot more water than diesel. See what I get for checking only one source!! BD also has good...

I would love to see lab proof of the lubricity or lack there of. I called Ram and asked the tech line why in the manual it says up to 5% biodiesel approved. In MN pumps have up to 20% Bio. They told me to avoid it but if I have to use it use an additive that adds lubricity. If you or anyone...

Please keep us posted on your temp issue!!! What ambient air temp is it outside when your hitting those temps? Is it oil and coolant running that hot? What weight loads and is it hilly? Call powerservice tech line and ask if that is an issue with their product (higher engine temps!! ). The...

New owner. 2016 Ram Lone Star with overheating issues

Call Banks Performance. Gale Banks has done ALot of work with this motor for the military. I am sure they will have a way to cool her down. But Ram needs to fix the issue first. She seems to run a lot warmer than average!

New owner. 2016 Ram Lone Star with overheating issues

That is way higher than what you would want. Under package 28v on my rig is a "max cooling System". Salesman said it was tranny and extra engine cooling capacity. Who knows what it is???? 228 is as high as my coolant has gotten the last load I pulled. 7k 75mph 200 miles!
