Starting the EcoDiesel in cold weather

Sitting here after work and thought I'd do a post with my experience. 2014 Laramie quadcab 4wd with Hancook ATM tires. In the middle of the 4th winter with ED. Some things I always try to do... 1. Try to plug heater in when below 25F for overnights. 2. I don't let the truck idle to warm up. I...

What did you trade for your EcoDiesel?

Ummm yes. I had a 1998 Dakota 3/4 ton. It was available if your dealer would take the time to order it (not a mega dealer - a small town dealer...) Mine was a white SLT. Delivered many a cast iron boiler in it Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

What did you trade for your EcoDiesel?

Except that I got a really good trade on the tire deal because they accepted the good Goodyears as new, I probably wouldn't have done it until they were wornout

What did you trade for your EcoDiesel?

I just switchd them because of the driving I do, various surfaces with my work. I just bought them through a local tire store thats earned my business. Had the OEM Goodyears, a set of Cooper Discoverers and a set of the Rugged Terrains on my last truck. Average 1500 miles a month

What did you trade for your EcoDiesel?

I did change the tires on my truck to the Rugged Terrains, but with the torque of the diesel, I had no problem in any weather condition this winter. in fact, a couple times I even forgot to switch it into the AWD

What did you trade for your EcoDiesel?

I was discouraged the first 4k miles. I was getting between 18 and 19 mpg avg. Since then, it's jumped up to almost 21 mpg in my journal. It's been saving me approx $150 per month in operating expense. It always has a couple hundred lb load of tools and I changed the tires to BFF Rugged Terrains...

Starting the EcoDiesel in cold weather

I didn't have the heater cord yet on that -2F morning and the noise upon startup prompted me to get the cord right away. I was only plugging it in when it was below 10F but I've moved that up to about 27F. Now I just unplug, get in and start driving

SW PA here. Coldest night was -2F this winter. Truck sat for about 12 hours. Started in about 4 seconds. Started plugging in the block heater since then. Much quieter and engine almost completely warmed up within a mile. No problems with the DEF that I know of
