I drive the same as you. When the transmission shifts down, I often let off of the throttle slightly and let the truck up-shift to use the torque of the engine versus letting it run at higher RPM. Diesel's are all about low engine speed (& torque) and not higher RPM use.
I'm going to be pulling a trailer that is above the capacity of my truck so will have to give up the incredible economy of the ECO diesel to get there. Always trade-offs.
Is the GDE "trans tune" an option on their re-programmed controller? Do you know what the "tune" is or does? When I purchased my controller from them I remember getting a transmission braking option but don't recall anything else being offered.

I just received the AEM notice and did read the warranty. Anything extended and free is usually good. I just don't want to lose the performance and economy I have and invested in with the GDE controller. That's the only reason I'm on the fence.

I like this aftermarket warranty idea and the costs seem reasonable for someone that uses their truck as a daily driver, I do not. My truck sits a lot and just doesn't get used frequently enough to justify this. However, I still don't like the idea of "suffering" with performance and economy...
Kind of a problem either way from what I understand. The AEM comes with poor performance and an extended warranty. Keeping your truck as is (and opting out of the AEM) forgoes the extended warranty. Is this correct?

Sorry guys, I'm new to this site. I just received a letter yesterday on an Approved Emissions Modification (AEM) and Extended Warranty. Is this what is being referred to in this thread? An extended Warranty sounds great but I really don't want them messing with the setup I have (GDE...
A small world indeed. I was shocked the first time I went to that area just how much aerospace business there is and I'm sure I'm only aware of a small portion of it.
Take care,

Just read through this post and am wondering if the "GDE Tune" mentioned that is beneficial to the soot problem is "any" of the GDE controller tune options or one specifically? I have a 2016 Eco Diesel that I use 80% for towing on 2-3 hour trips. I added a GDE controller within the 1st 5k...
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere without me finding it....
I just replaced my fuel filter (2016 Ram) and found it to be a simple and drip-free process. I did the fuel system prime 6 times afterward (inserted the key, turned to the "Run" position, waited to hear the fuel pump stop...
