2015 Ram Eco Diesel. We put a brand-new engine in 2023 due to other issues. No issues since.
Recently, we added DEF. After about 60 miles it popped with the "incorrect def quality, see dealer." We drained the def tank, added brand new def. Drove the truck. Message would not go away. CEL came on for P2080. EGT B1S1. Replaced. Cleared codes. Drove the truck. CEL came back and message still displayed. Changed the DEF pump (not the tank). Cleared. Drove. CEL came back with P2BA9 with "Engine will not restart in 200 miles. Service DEF. See Dealer." Nox Sensor. Replaced. All OEM products. Cleared codes. Drove truck at highway speeds for about 45 miles. No CEL came back but the message will not go away. Went through everything with our Autel MAxisys908. Was able to see that the SCR did complete and is ready. But the 2B A9 is stuck in the PCM. We think this is why the message will not go away. The message is only on the dash BUT it is not in the "stored messages" on the dash.
We have done everything we can think of. Spoke to multiple dealers in the area and they all have told us that they do not know how to fix this either. I even called a local repair shop to pick their brain, they currently have an ecodiesel in their shop with the exact same message. They too have done everything and the message will not go away. I told him thanks for your time, was trying to save a trip to the dealer for a pcm flash. He said "no worries, but this truck came from the dealer and a flash didnt work". I am stuck. We do not know what to do. We want to just delete it, but are afraid it will not get rid of the countdown. Any advice?

A proper delete with the corresponding tune simply deletes ALL of the PCM parameters for the DEF injection system. I'm "halfway" deleted so far, but will be doing the full enchilada in about two weeks time. I purchased a tune that had an "EGR off" tune and an "EGR off, DEF off" tune too. I can't say the company that did my tune is still around these days which is a shame, but a LOT of tuners out there sell comprehensive kits with hardware and the flash for your ECU as a packaged deal. I guarantee that expense is several times cheaper than trying to fix a problem the EPA created in the first place. Until you decide what to do - I wouldn't risk the drive countdown.

Perhaps someone else here could chime in how to reset or stop that countdown using AlfaOBD - you'll need a device that runs Android OS (which was annoying since I run iOS and had to get a small, cheap tablet to do that). :cautious:
