so a a few weeks ago i picked up a used 17 eco with 15k on it looked super clean ran good, drives good.

but i noticed it was sold to kelly blue book then bought by the dealer, is this bad?
i found a few maps and stuff in the glove box i suspect this guy drove it on a trip and then sold it?
maintenance is all up to date.

also you guys got any tip?
i am a landscaper and this truck will be on a 4k trailer everyday (3.55 gears) on my 2 other rams 2002 and 08 i blew both the rears out at around 150k
i will be keeping this truck for the full 72 note so any help would be awesome.

KBB will buy your truck for cash "right now!" so it was probably someone who didn't want to deal with the bs. They are kind of like Carmax in that respect.

Use high quality API CK-4 full synthetic oil and consider a quart of Lucas full synthetic oil treatment. The factory recommends Rotella T6.

Choose a GDE or PPEI engine tune to turn off the EGR. The EGR is the devil to this truck and will cause you no end of troubles, heartache, misery and repair bills.

Hopefully you highway drive a lot to do a proper regen, which is regenerating the Diesel Particulate Filter

I agree with you the EGR and cooler is probably the problem please explain the Gre. Versus the ppei TUNE and will it void my emission warranty?

GDE, PPEI or sofaking. They will all void your warranty, maybe, if they are found. I have the GDE tune myself. Everything, including the file names and dates, are the same as stock. Its just whats in those files that varies some. Until my dealer gets a forensic IT specialist I am not worried about it. But I do have the factory tuned ECM for when I get the big, upcoming ECM flash. I dont want to overwrite this tune, even if I know I can send it back to GDE to get it flashed back. It has been too good a truck to let anyone screw with it.

I hope this answers your questions. Call Green Diesel yourself and talk to them about it. Or the other two companies. I hear good things about all of them. Just don't get a Banks tune box and leave it there for the service department to see.
