Been 10 days since I've contacted Ram customer service. Waisted 2 hours on hold waiting to talk to a real person. This person was an information taker only, saying I would be contacted within 24 hours, been a lot more than that with no contact. Now my problem and solution!
Drive recently I got a bell sound then a lightening bolt with a message that stated "service electric throttle control. Engine went into fail safe, and radiator fan came on full blast. Cel
Says PO118 coolant temp sensor. Come to find out the lightening bolt comes on when the engine goes into fail safe and the message doesn't indicate a issue? Makes sense that the engine would go into failsafe and the fan would run with a temp sensor failure. Order a new sensor from a dealer that I buy crash parts from. List for $93 wholesale was $63. I installed the sensor that lives under the thermostat plastic housing. In the process of changing the temperature sensor I cracked the plastic housing. $180 from the dealer and $20 ( in metal not plastic) from Amazon. I had to reset the cel. My truck now runs correctly with no codes. My truck is still under the diesel warranty but my local dealer states they can't work on my truck until APRIL, totally unacceptable. My local dealer just sucks, they state their pre madona technical doesn't like to do warranty work, it doesn't pay enough. WTF as much as I like this truck I have a major dislike for my local dealer. I live in Hendersonville, NC.
