Hey all, I currently have a 2011 5.7 and its time for an upgrade. Love the idea of these 3.0 trucks. I am going to be pulling a 8000 lb trailer. How well do your guys trucks handle a trailer of this size? I know the factory specs but I like real world data lol

I have 1500s, I sold my 2015 VM.30 and replace it with 2019 5.7 Limited, it out tows the VM 3.0 in city towing I used it in.

At the GVW I would Buy 2500, I rarely tow with My 1500s, once you tow with more iron its more safer and enjoyable.

The VM 3.0 has performed OK in HWY use , even 50/50 DD/HWY is just to risky for the 3.0VM. .

My 2019 Insurance is around $300.00 per year Less than Rams 1500 DSL, In Fact My 3500s DSLs are less to Insure than Rams 1500 DSL.

The additional cost and the 0.20-.050 difference in DSL/GAS plus the additional $3700.00 Charge for the DSL VS 5.7 Gas alone tips the scale in favor of Gas.

You will need to really pay close attention to your payload and axle loads. Very robust WDH will be a must. Most of us install supplemental air bags. Several trips to a CAT scale to get set up properly. Many tow the weights you are talking about but you will need to pay attention to your set up.

I hooked a 5k load behind my 2011 1500 and have decided to go with the 2500 6.4. Lol The empty fuel mileage would have been nice but I don't want to white knuckle the steering wheel every time I got camping
