P2D4D and P200A Codes on 2015 Ram

Curious what I should do. Truck has 120k, I've sent it in for every recall possible. I think I'm out of warranty but really don't want to replace the intake manifold myself. Also don't want to pay the 2-5k or whatever the dealership is going to quote me. Also I'm worried if I have them replace it and they use the same OEM part, are the codes just going to return? Just looking for a little guidance maybe some advice from others who have ran into these codes.

I've had the truck since 2020 and owe a little on it still but I don't really want to go truck shopping right now. I have a 30ft travel trailer so towing is a must.

Ideas?? Thanks

Hello Kevdran,
I, too, have 2015 and have been getting similar codes (p2d2e & p200b). Yes, the dealership will use the same OEM part, and eventually the codes will return. How long the "eventually" is, depends on what you do to mitigate the soot buildup. Fuel additives are good for the fuel system, but only do so much for soot. A tune like GDE will do significantly more to make your truck run cleaner. A trick I used recently was to remove the EGR tube and spray copious amounts of wd-40 on the swirlers to dissolve the soot. WD-40 is mostly kerosene, so it's compatible with diesel. Best to do this right before an oil change, as some of the runoff will make it into the oil. When you fire the engine back up, it will knock for a couple seconds while the WD burns off. Also, I fashioned a soot restrictor for the EGR tube that greatly reduces the flow of soot into the manifold.

A coworker and I both had a 2016 and 2017. We both had this same issue. The manifold was changed at about the same mileage. Mine was not installed correctly by a Ram Dealer and we fought codes for at least 6 months. They eventually found the issue and fixed it for no cost. Did continue to drive the truck for 5000 miles and then started having def issues. Deleted the truck. Still running today. Runs way better. My coworker sold his at 250,000 miles still factory stock. Sold mine to a family member at 195,000. They still drive it everyday. Good Luck!
