Stuck rotor

Just spent over 2 hrs trying to get the front rotors off of 1 wheel. I used heat, a big hammer, and a dead blow hammer. I started with the dead blow because I didn't want to damage the rotor because all I need is to replace the wheel bearing. However, I will now need to replace the rotor. Holy cow! Anyone have any suggestions on getting this thing off?

Worked on plenty of vehicles like that. Worst being my wife’s Neon back in the day.

More heat, more hammering is your only option, it’ll come off eventually. Sorry there is no easier way that I know of. Put some anti seize on the back of the new ones so it doesn’t happen again.

That's kind of what I figured. I'm going to try a gear puller tomorrow after letting it sit overnight with penetrating fluid.

Normally the fronts fall right off, I don’t think mine had holding screws on them, normally one good whack on the top and on the sides gets EM! Sounds like a bigger hammer may be in order 😎

So I finally got it off with an air hammer and gear puller. It was really rusted on. It took me awhile to get the wheelbearing off, but I managed. I noticed it that I tore the cv boot. With 160k on the truck I know i should probably just replace the entire cv axle. But... its freezing cold out and I just want to be done. How difficult is it to just put on a boot kit?

Maybe the splined end for the pumpkin comes out? I noticed mine have a lot of play when they go into the front diff but I don’t have any odd noises or clicking lol

Yeah that should pop off. I’d grab it tight in your hand with the rest of the axle hanging and hit the cv knuckle with a hammer.

What confuses me is, that shaft has a spot for a clip to hold it into the diff... do these years not have those clips?

I have no idea. I just ordered a new intermediate small shaft. I figure since I have it all taken apart, I might as well. We're having a big snow storm here though. Getting to the store might be tricky.

Well.. I got it off. I bent the shield a little that was on there. I guess I'm good. Unless you guys think I should use the new one.
