I've just purchased a 2018 Ram 1500 ED and was disappointed to find out that S rated chains are recommended for the rear tires and no chains for the front tires. I do a lot of off road during elk season in deep snow and have always chained up my old Ram 2500 with aggressive chains with cleats. The S chains don't look that strong to me. Does anyone have an S chain brand to recommend that will hold up? If I had smaller tires than the 275/60 R20 could I use the regular chains? Anyone have experience doing this?

I run 245/75R17's I installed a set of 2 link spaced v-bar ladder chains on them, they fit and had adequate clearances.
I have not had to work them.
I don't believe our transfer case would like chains.
