Hi, I just put a deposit on a 2017 Ram 1500 Eco with 81K miles. The motor was just replaced under warranty. I was told by the salesman that the engine put in was a Gen 3. Is there some way for me to confirm this before I sign on the line?

I was able to get the tech notes for the repair. No oil pressure at the gauge yet full of oil. Metal shavings in the oil pan so diagnosed as oil pump failure leading to bearing and upper end failure. Is there something else that I should look at that may have caused the oil pump failure (ERG, DEF)?

The engine will be the same Generation engine that it replaced. There is no practical way to put the redesigned engine in the older truck.
