Let's see if you've ever heard this one. Drove my truck all weekend, no issues, start-up process is the same as it always was in almost 3 years of ownership.
This morning I'm heading out to work, unlock the doors, get inside, place phone, place thermos, place lunch, stick the keyfob in the slot, turn it to the "on" position to look for the familiar startup screen and glow plug icon... and nothing. Black screen, only the odometer reading. I think "Hmmm... weird." I turn it off, try it two more times, spinning the fob one way, then the other - same issue. I decide "Well, let me just try it" and twist it to the start position, and sure enough, it cranks over, takes maybe half a second longer than before since the glow plugs didn't get to do their thing, and it idled just fine. It drove to work just fine.
Come 5 o'clock in the shop parking lot - exact same thing happened. Tried it two different ways, and this was the first time the display actually said "Wrong Key Fob" - odd... it's the only one I have and have been feeding you for 3 years. I twist to start, and again, fired up just fine, idled fine, drove fine.
I get home, key off - and as I hit the "off" position, "Wrong Key Fob" blinked for a split second. I pull the fob, turn it 180 degrees, twist it to the "on" position - and everything worked like normal. I replaced the fob battery less than a year ago if that's worth anything.
So... what gives?
