  • I'm new here, I have a 2017 eco diesel with 91k on it. I ran it out of fuel and after putting 2 gallons in followed online instruction to prime and start. I got it to start, but dies anywhere from 10 seconds to 2.5 minutes and then have to reprime and start again. Could the fuel filter be overwhelmed since I ran out of fuel or possibly the injector pump or fuel pump failing? Waiting for a tow truck now. Ugh!

Once I got it home I could listen to the fuel pump without all the traffic noise. I could here it priming then I could hear it getting air or less resistance on the in tank pump. I added 2 more gallons of fuel and all is now good.

FACTORY FUEL; FILTER? go under the truck and loosen the screw to let the air out, and at the same time change the filter. you will have to turn the key on a few time to bleed it out, meaning two people, one to turn the key on and you underneath bleeding it out.
