It would probably be wise to request service records. They are usually available through Carfax or other such companies. That might give you an indication of how this all happened.
The exact same thing happened to me on my 2014 fully deleted ecodiesel a couple of months ago. I had my mechanic son-in-law delete any codes he found and everything has been normal since. In my experience, most of the codes are false alarms, and result in losts of owners getting big bills for...
Yes. They don’t require an FCA approved person to do the maintenance, only that you have invoices from a automotive service establishment. The dealer first refused to warranty my blown engine because I didn’t have invoices. I did have accurate records for all maintenance performed (I do most of...
Has anyone had issues with their Ecodiesel using oil? I have a 2014 Ram Ecodiesel, and the engine was replaced by the dealer in 2018, so I assume it is a 2018 engine. Late in 2019 I had a delete done (by a local diesel tuner) because I was sick of all the check engine lights and DEF problems...
I had the same issue. I do all my own service, and had marked in the glovebox maintenance book the dates, mileage and work performed at each service interval. FCA wouldn’t accept that, so I had a friend at an automotive repair shop make me up some invoices matching the dates in my book. Problem...
I recently had a tune done with def & dpf delete on my 2014 Ecodiesel (2018 motor - the first one spun a rod bearing at 125k km). I find there is now a strong exhaust smell, which really stinks up my garage in the few second it takes to start it up and back out. Is that normal with a delete?
I guess that answers my question...the 2018’s are still experiencing bearing failures. Dealer replaced my 2014 (failed main bearing) with a new 2018 engine, but I am still nervous about it happening again to my new engine.
FCA actually said the expected life of the ecodiesel was 140,000 miles? Wow! Based on that, there would be no economic advantage over purchasing the hemi.
I’m driving down (with my ecodiesel) to Florida from Canada next week, and will be doing a complete loop around Florida in the month I am...
What happens if your engine fails at 130,000 miles? You are still left to pay for an expensive new motor at 1/3 of the normal life expectancy for a diesel motor. FCA needs to come clean and admit they have a problem. They also have not given any indication whether or not the engine problems...
Those could have been my comments a few months ago. Then the bottom fell out (literally!). Just for the record, I have personally owned and driven pickup trucks for 51 years now, and never had a major failure. Then I purchase 2 Ram Ecodiesels (a 2014 and a 2016), and both have engine failures...
I think it would handle that with no problem. The 3.6L with ETorque can tow over 7500 lbs with the 3.92 gears, so 5,500 lbs should be fine with 3.55 gears. You should confirm that with the manufacturer before purchasing.
Could it be the brake calipers are partially seized from sitting too long before it was purchased? That can cause them to rattle when they are not applied.
Because you mentioned you wanted to take advantage of the clear out prices on the 2018 models. In late 2019 they will have a clear out of that model year.
Not sure what the mileage would be with the 3:92 gears, but it will give you a bit more spunk when towing. If the rated towing capacity with...
