    Engine rough when shutting off

Hi everyone. I have a 2016 ecodiesel. The first engine failed at 57,000 miles. The new engine now has approximately 97,000 miles on it. The engine has run fine up until about a week ago. It is starting up fine and running smoothly up until I shut it off. Normally shut off is buttery smooth. I...

Does anyone know of the Z46 recall and when a fix is coming from Ram 2015 ecodiesel ?

My truck just got the new high pressure fuel pump installed via recall on July 7th. The truck was at the dealer for the airbag recall and they told me there are no parts as of yet for the fuel pump recall on July 5th. Then July 6th they called and said they just received the new part. Installed...

    New diesel owner

Also, I do spend the extra money on mopar filters and fluids other than oil. I may change that when my warranty expires this spring

    New diesel owner

Hi Wayne, If you bought it used, I would take it in to a Ram dealer for a full service because if there is an issue later, your own service records piggy back on the dealers after the dealer essentially is saying the truck is good to go. If new, I would feel fine to do my own maintenance. I...

    Changing your own fuel filter

One more thing, when you place it in run position, you will hear the pump running. Wait to shut it off until you hear the pump shut off. It takes maybe 10-15 seconds for this to happen.

    Changing your own fuel filter

It is an easy job. After loosening the bolt at the bottom of the fuel canister (I placed a bolt there for convenience) place a gallon freezer bag around the canister and loosen further. Then, with the bag still around the canister, unscrew the canister. All diesel should be in the bag along with...

    STP 5W40 Diesel Oil

I just used STP diesel oil yesterday. It was time for an oil change and advance and O’Neill were both out of 5w40 synthetic oils outside of non name brands. . I had to go to two different auto zones to get the STP oil as that was all they had. Ice never heard of STP oil, just their additives...

    2nd eco diesel down!

I think 2016 and 2018 have the same generation engine.

    Seized Engine

1100!!! You sure it’s not 110? Mine broke down 2 years ago at the beginning of Covid. Had to wait 2 months because Italy was in lockdown. I think Ram needs to consider replacing these stranded Ram drivers with the latest generation ecodiesel to get people on the road again.

    Shell T6 oil

Ive only put T6 in my eco until last week. The national shortage of T6 forced me to use another brand. The auto manager at Advanced recommended Chevrons Delo. A week later and so far, so good. I did call Ram while at the store and the service guy told me Delo works and they will honor my...

    Rest In Peace Ecodiesel engine

Believe it. This has happened to many ecodiesel. This happened to my 2016 with 57,000 miles on it about a year and a half ago. Luckily, it was covered under warranty. There was a post somewhat recently that you can get a crate eco engine and the link to the page. I want to say the engine was...

Hello. First post regarding oil pressure gauge

I’m thinking I would not drive it then. Have it towed to the dealer or a good diesel mechanic. Ours started making a steady ticking noise from the engine and soon after the oil pressure gauge went zero when in idle and back up under throttle. Our engine had metal in the pan and the dealer gave...

    Oil dip stick

Mine does the same every time. Exactly 10.5 qts. I wait until it is a slow drip after having had run the engine so the oil is warm and thin. Change the oil filter. Always above the fill line. Even after 8,000 miles, it still shows above the fill line.

Two things. I’m sure an aftermarket oil cooler will help. And I think the biggest thing to help keep the oil cool is really just going slow up big grades. Do not try to maintain 65 mph, you might need to maintain 45 mph or even slower. This little engine will be working at its limits so you...
