STP 5W40 Diesel Oil

I just used STP diesel oil yesterday. It was time for an oil change and advance and O’Neill were both out of 5w40 synthetic oils outside of non name brands. . I had to go to two different auto zones to get the STP oil as that was all they had. Ice never heard of STP oil, just their additives. The numbers work for the oil requirements. However, it does say it can be used in gas engines as well. And it smelled like gasoline oil and even seemed thinner than the T6 of the same weight.
Anyone else heard of or use the STP? No wear or catastrophic failures while using it?
