Mine sat at dealership waiting on EGR parts for 2 months. They put another "same" type in until the FIX is available in April. 2 weeks later it smells very bad of coolant. I went thru the buyback process, FCA declined, they said N.C. laws did not allow buyback. I went to mediation, they did...
My dealership agreed when the EGR failed the engine got pretty hot and could have internal engine damage. Their response back to FCA was that unless they took the engine apart, they could not determine IF there is internal damage. FCA wont pay for it. I went to mediation and wanted a buyback. No...
They had my identical truck for 60 days. They put in the same type EGR until the FIX comes out. 500 miles later it still smells very bad of coolant but doesn't seem to be losing any fluid. This is the same symptom right before the first EGR failed. It goes back in tomorrow. Hopefully they wont...
My Son has been waiting for almost a year. Makes me think FCA is in bad, bad financial problems. They want to keep cashso it looks good when they sell the Dodge works.
Dealer had mine from Dec. 4 to Feb. 4th to put in another similar /suspect EGR after the original smoked out. 5 days later still coolant smell. Dealership said it was from the spilled coolant and it should go away after a few hundred miles. 500 miles later it still stinks up the garage but fluid...
Exact same thing happened to me. Restarted it and had same noise. Shut it off, waited a few minutes, restarted and it was fine. Took it directly to dealership, they get a scan, no alerts. Did not do it again. A few weeks later my EGR failed and smoked us out of the truck.
Yes I did make a formal complaint with NHTSA. Basically all they seem to do is take a report. FCA said no buyback because of NC state laws. Went to mediation, basically they said they ONLY deal with issues within the original warranty. I guess the truck sits or gets taken only to the local store...
