I would also add that if it already has that many miles on, it was well taken care and not prone to accidents he issues that 10% of owners have. Those are of course the ones we hear the most about…also, it’s great from towing and has plenty of torque. Just make sure you check the specs for that...
i own 2014 ED with 175k miles. DiD full delete and tune at 80k. No problems from 80-175k until recently. The throttlecontrol butterfly valve has proven to be the issue. After fixing several CELs and continuing to get into limp mode I elected to simply remove the butterfly valve and have seemed...
Update. Back on the road! To no surprise the tone ring was the issue. Bought the replacement for $25 and had a shop do the work for a fair price. Onto tuning next! 😁
I meant covered under recall, not warrant. and the fuel pump recall hasn’t been completed, not injector pump. 🤦🏻♂️ I didn’t call yesterday, but I am going to in a little bit.
...one for injector pump. Yesterday I back out of the drive and shift to D and it lurches forward and flashes the message about the throttlecontrol, pull up codes and it’s the CKP. It had the emissions recall done that should have flashed the PCM to read Camshaft readings and ignore the CKP...
At my last count the Service Electronic ThrottleControl message was triggered by 88 engine control situations. I do not know the capabilities of your local tuner to catch each and everyone of these situations. But I will say you need to have a real time date scanner with DTC clear capabilities...
...the engine, used AlfaOBD to clear codes, and took it for a spin. Engine light did not come on this time. The "Service Electronic ThrottleControl" message did not appear, and it's driving normally! Amazing. I don't think I can own this vehicle without AlfaOBD.
I also just received my GDE...
My dad has a 2016 ED and recently towed his 5th wheel trailer about 50 kms and the service electronic throttlecontrol came on and the truck went into limp mode, any ideas what could have caused this issue?
You make my most analytical day seem simple. Keep it simple. Yep the Crank Position Sensor and Ring. One of the reflash recalls was to supplant the Crank Position Sensor as primary to the Camshaft Position Sensor, this was supposed to allow you to limp in when the Crank Tone Ring grenades (as...
...been pleased with the vehicle. Recently I became a student and victim of the apparently common lightning bolt, “service electronic throttlecontrol”. I know there are many threads and videos about this, (I’ve sleeplessly searched, studied and noted all relative causes I’ve come across of)...
Dude, had the same thing, i had my own ext. warranty. They replaced the tone wheel on the crank since it still run the throttlecontrol. Est bill 700.00 without warranty.
Also curious what you mean by unexpectedly high maintenance costs? 100$ oil change at 9k interval, and a 40$ fuel filter ~annual? Differentials, and well that's all. Other than getting screwed with diesel prices the actual maintenance costs are at or below norm
...with 144k miles. We were towing our trailer when suddenly we lurched during acceleration and got dash message about the Electric ThrottleControl, the check engine light came on and we were in limp mode. Made it to a dealership 10 minutes up the highway, going about 45mph. Our codes were...
As I mentioned earlier, plethora of circumstances, Low Turbo Boost is one of the causes, Incorrect Mass Airflow Sensor reading, Incorrect Mass Atmospheric Pressure reading, VVTC loss of communications, Injector Flow Low/Higher than anticipated, all these plus many others can cause the dreaded...
...deleting the stock electronic throttle for the Banks throttle delete and having the tuner remove it from ECM would make it impossible for any DTC's regarding the Electronic ThrottleControl let alone the dreaded SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLECONTROL. Any input would be much appreciated!
Cheers
Hi! Does anyone know if an individual can replace the ETC without having to go to a dealer? Also, where would be the best place to purchase one? Thank you
...miles/160,000 Kms)
I was carrying a 350 lb load over a long distance on very hilly terrain, hot day. Received an Electronic Sensor ThrottleControl warning light (solid RED), power was reduced quite significantly. As this was a long trip I tried calling some RAM dealers (around closing...
...they still don't know what to do about it since the recall is so new. My truck is already sitting because the "service electronic throttlecontrol" light came on and went into limp mode last Wed. I replaced the MAP sensor and cleaned the egr tube. Didn't fix it. So now the code is p0336...
I was driving today on cruise control and got a CEL and a Service Electronic ThrottleControl message. Limped home and checked the codes and cleared them. Drove it for approximately 30 minutes with no issues. Not going to stray too far from home with it for now to see if it codes again. 52k...
