Hey fellas.
I see a lot of posts regarding the “service electronic throttle” message. Just wanted to share this image with everyone. The “set” light doesn’t truly mean an engine issue. It could be a combination of codes from various issues. My #1 glow plug has started to come and go but...
I have a 2014 with 153k on it now. I did a glow plug around 120k, removed egr with tune around 133k, and removed dpf system around 148k since it threw a code. Other than that it’s been a great truck the past 3 years
Sounds about how mine runs pulling 18’ enclosed trailer with 3500# Monte Carlo in it. My trans temp tends to run lower when pulling than empty, but oil 230-250 and coolant 215-225 I’ve seen if I remember right
So to be clear, the codes got worse after you played with the wiring? It’s deffinately got to be something in the large plug pictured. If they knit picked wires out and spliced them, then it may be the plug is failing. Correct splicing wire to wire shouldn’t be an issue, but it’s most likely...
If it wasn’t pouring down rain I would shoot a pic of under my truck, but I’m 120% sure that’s not an oem wiring job. That plug is notorious for connection issues. Maybe some disassembly and lube with dielectric grease would help!
I would also agree with your mechanic. when it shifts, the turbo is changing with the Rpms and relieving pressure. If your going in reverse slightly uphill and apply pressure to the throttle then quickly release, you should hear the similar sound.
Welcome!
Your codes seem to have no real rhyme or reason, a few relate to the exhaust, one to the turbo and one to the fuel pressure. I’d start by just checking over all your electrical connections, every ground connection, check over your exhaust joints, particularly the 3 bolt flange under the...
If you unplug your egr electrical connections, that will confirm for sure if you have a tune or not. The cruise control method works also, but if your egr is unplugged and doesn’t throw a code almost instantly, then the ecm is tuned. The original owner may have removed his ecm when he traded it...
As far as I’m aware, mopar is the only manufacturer that makes these filters. For what it’s worth, oem seems to fit better, and filters to manufactures specs. Wether it’s fuel or oil filtration, both seem to fit, and seal better from my local Ram dealer or Amazon.
UPDATE. Just hit 153k! Running stage 2 since 136k I believe. Diesel exhaust smell in cab when remote starting, pretty sure it’s from reusing the v band exhaust gasket. Truck doesn’t mis a beat! Fuel mileage with 35’s is 20-23 depending. But she got a bath today!
Welcome! Have you had all the recalls done? Tough to say why it would spool up more unless you are just noticing it. Turbo is powered off exhaust so it should only be spooling when you are on the pedal. In tow/haul mine will kinda stay active, acting like a mini engine brake.
Emissions in tact means that exhaust emission devices cannot be modified. I’m not sure on the gear ratio, but with alfaobd I believe you can change that.
Have you reset your fuel mileage In the evic? I know when I pull anything with mine it drops but if you never reset it then it’s your average since you have owned it
