Just take alot of pictures, label things, you can't get sensors mixed up because they will only fit in the right sockets, zip tie the main fuel block on top of the manifold out of the way, remove the oil fill neck. The turbo outlet neck can be tough. I cut down an Allen so it would fit. Then...
You have to remove the driver's side fuel lines, mainly to get the wiring harness off which crosses under the fuel lines and around them. Also the fuel line coming from the hpfp can just be disconnected from the rail. You can reuse the lines, I have 4 times and not one problem. The rail...
Yeah it's much more involved than that. Nearly the whole engine wiring harness has to come off, alldata has an online repair manual, good for somethings others not. But it's good for intake manifold removal. Be prepared to spend a few hours cleaning it's not fun. If you have the money put a...
The preturbo intake has a baffle as does the hot side piping. If you replace the got side with a straight pipe make sure it has a rolled bevel to it or the boost will just blow it off, and use good clamps for the hosing. Both baffles are restrictive.
As far as I know no one else besides gde can modify there code. So you'll have to find another way around it or retune it with another company. I disconnected mine and didn't have a problem, and the tune wasn't written with that in mind, and I also deleted the butterfly valve at the same time...
So much is done from the factory to quiet these engines down. Foam covers, engine cover, intake baffles. There's insulation in the passenger wheel well to deaden the sound of air sucking in.
It just acts as a sound reducer. So it also retains heat, which we don't want, but I keep them on in the winter. Because of my setup I usually don't get up to full engine temps when it's cold out, don't have to drive far for work.
I believe it's 3/8ths, and I used crimp clamps, but it's really tight to get them seated down so if you use them make sure you have the right tool to crimp them from the side. You do not have to buy new fuel lines when removing the intake. When you take the turbo elbo off cut an Allen wrench...
Ahh, quiets down the injectors, I have an upgraded intercooler and all 3in hot cold piping, so winter time I need all the help I can get to keep it warm.
I've had the manifold off 4 times, and never replaced a fuel line once. Accentually installed the banks, and it will make a world of difference, simply because of deleting the swirl valves. I deleted the swirl valves on the factory manifold but ended up having a boost leak where the swirl...
