you could always run a HUGE diesel generator to generate the power to run the charging station. Oh wait, EPA will shut it down if someone tunes it to run efficiently...
If you do, let me know also. I want to get a used ecm and get it flashed without going to the dealer and raise eyebrows... Maybe if GDE comes back to the scene, I can get them to do it...
yes, now would be a good time to buy an ecu to keep in case you ever go to the dealer, if you lose what you have now from a dealer flash, you can't get it back...... just saying...
Unfortunately, I believe those who had their trucks go up in flames need to report it to NHTSA so they can investigate. The first thing they want is my VIN, which if I haven't had a fire doesn't matter. I think we need those who had their trucks burst into flames file a complaint immediately...
I haven't had it happen to me, but I sent a email to FCA this morning with about 25 photos of ecodiesel's on fire. Hopefully it will get someone's attention, this can't be ignored anymore, it's NOT OK.
Agreed. Pretty soon it'll be all electric no more gas motors. Would love to see heavy haulers travel across the country with electric. They'd have to keep stopping to recharge. That'll add hours and hours of wasted time...
Give them a little time, they had an unannounced Inspection from EPA and I believe they could be facing $1 million in fines if they keep selling tunes that 'defeat' emission controls. From what I heard on another forum, GDE is still working on new tunes that are compliant with epa regulations...
I would have no issue with all this emission stuff, IF, #1, the egr design was actually property made so that all the soot would was cleaned out PRE going back into the intake to prevent #1 soot contamination of the intake, #2 soot plugging up the egr cooler fins, #3 soot plugging up the swirl...
agreed, but none of the tuners can put that in writing due to the witch hunt...
but when epa comes knocking on their door, it's pretty easy for them to determine that egr is set at 0%.. read the report posted on gde's unannounced inspection that was released this past week, dated Aug 30...
give gde some time, they are working on something, after their 'surprise inspection from the epa' they've halted all sales, but from what I've heard, they are working on something to comply. Not gonna happen overnight as they also need to test it out before putting it on the market... I...
hang tight, gde from what I saw on another forum is working on something and are slowly catching up on getting back to each customer to explain and do what they can to help you.
This was posted in another forum which GDE just got back to the customer this morning. Sounds more encouraging...
I'm so glad to hear that they responded, I guess we really have to be very cautious what we post, EPA is are probably trolling these forums and other places, pretending to be an ecodiesel owner and looking for a place where they can get tuned (or their 'options' for tuners) and of course, out of...
I wouldn't be surprised of SFT is next to get hit by the EPA with an unannounced visit... Especially since they sell in cali... It's so unfortunate, these tunes are the only way to keep our trucks from self-destructing.
It doesn't look good for GDE, days are numbered with tuners... I wish Keith all the best working through this mess, I can't imagine being grilled like this. I hope GDE comes out of this.
Congrats, you'll enjoy the truck again and you'll also notice your fuel economy improve the more and more the more you drive it. I've had a solid four weeks of city driving with very little highway, city traffic in Mississauga, short trips, probably 90% short trips, and I"m still holding steady...
That's a possibility too. Expensive cause you can't open the tank. It needs replacing. Or just run without a guage. A tank lasts about 12000 km so set your odometer next time you fill it.
Is there any chance you're truck has a tuned ECU? Did you buy it privately or from a dealer? Some (not all) ECU tunes may disable the DEF gauge.
LESS LIKELY IN SEPTEMBER:
I'm assuming you live in a warm climate? In winter, DEF freezes at -11oC and since the DEF tank has some kinda float...
