Hey I was wondering if any one could provide me with knowledge regarding this issue on my truck within 86K Miles on it, I’ve tried all the handy fixing stuff
( cleaning the def injector with steam and removing all the pebbles crystals caused the the Def, removing the battery cables to clear off the computer) but to this point nothing has helped so I end it up taking the truck to the Chrysler dealership in Greenway, Orlando Fl. Hopefully they should be able to fix it, but since the little experience I had they will try to rip me off and that’s the last thing I want to be. So please let me know if someone has went already trough this process, they ( Ram Dealership) told me that most likely it needs a def service, and I don’t know if the def tank had a filter that needs to be changed

"Service DEF System Immediately" is the highest level of warning for the DEF system.
First; disconnect of the battery does nothing for the codes on this system. This message has to be cleared by dealer WiTech scan tool.
Second; Your maintenance of the DEF Doser (Injector) is a great idea. But this message normally also entails the NoX sensor readings in the system.
Third; a dealer you can trust with a diesel tech who is knowledgeable of the ED systems is a must and goes along way to your comfort level as well as a positive result for repair.
The DEF pump has a flow amount that it must equal to sufficiently dose the SCR, so cleaning the Doser may not have cleared your issue. If pump is failing then it will not flow the sufficient volume irregardless of the Doser condition.
So good luck with your dealer choice. Summary, DEF pump may be an issue, NoX sensors could be an issue, the SCR should not have failed at this mileage, so don't let them go down that path.

First, welcome to the forum.
Your problem is common and can be complicated.
Or, it could be something as simple s bad DEF.
Gearhead gave you good answers and advice but there's a lot more to understand.
I suggest you do a search of this and other forums as well as on Google, there's so much info and discussions available.
I don't believe anyone can give you a definitive answer and your fix is probably the dealer.

Thank you for all the information provided, I’m posting the update…so maybe later on this will help someone this past Tuesday 12/06/22 I got the truck back and they diagnosed with the ECM internal failure and other maintenance services. They were able to clear off the previous def message and I taught the problem was fixed, so yesterday driving home from work the message came back again. Today I came back early and they told me the error might be due to a crankshaft sensor ? Mmm… waiting for final diagnosis
