My 2018 Ecodiesel shut down on the freeway May 23rd 2025. Towed to the dealership in San Diego, diagnostic done and was told "Catastrophic Engine Failure" and would need a new engine. Extended warranty with through 118,00 miles and expiration date of August 2026. Quality Guard is the extended warranty company sent an inspector out to verify and report back. Quality Guard required a breakdown of the engine to determine cause at my expense $2300. Once broken down again inspector sent to verify and report back to Quality Guard. The report went to Warranty Company review and determined the engine qualified for approval finally after 5 weeks from the incident. The cost of the engine and labor is $23,000.
Due to previous warranty coverage of $6,000 paid out for the Connect computer and a leakage repair the coverage for the engine would be $16,000leaving the balance of $7,000 to be paid by us. The new engine has a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.

Do I have any recourse with Dodge , FCA?
Do I keep the truck after engine replacement, sell it , trade.
Any thoughts will help

Update:
Contacted Strellantis CEO by email on July 8th. explaining my situation : blown engine 91,000 miles, extended warranty paying $16,000 toward new factory engine on a $23,000 install at the dealership, requesting assistance financially, buyback or extended warranty on the powertrain beyond the factory warranty of 3 year unlimited miles on the new engine. Response within 2 days from an Executive Referral Manager by phone. Could not help financially out of warranty, no buyback but they did offer a Pre Owned Powertrain Extended Warranty 3 years / 45,000 miles through Mopar Flex Care Vehicle Protection at no expense to us.. Both the Engine and all components covered for 3 years. The Engine unlimited miles and the Extended Warranty to cover; Engine, Rear Wheel Drive,, Transmission, Steering, Air Conditioning and Instrument Panel. Which gives confidence going forward. Still considering selling or trading to an F150 or 2500 with both warranty's transferrable.
The person I email is the CEO of the Ram Division and his email : [email protected]
Hoping this may help someone in the future
