I must have been living under a rock to not know about these engine issues. But I have had all re calls replaced and get my oil changes plus maintenance done very regularly. And yesterday my engine blew on me . What are my options ?

Not knowin what I was getting into.....I...thinking that it was just a bad engine....Bought acreampuff 2014 4x4 with a running...but had metal in oil ...soooo having built and swapped many engines in my 70 plus years ..also bought an 8k mile gen 3 engine...Was I in for a SUPRISE... found this site...told by very reputable company .."buy a crate engine from dealer for 12k you cannot put a gen 3 into a 2014 truck....only crate engine I could find was 22k not 12...I was now in 7 for truck, 8 for my gen 3 engine...in short I was in bad shape...
Decided to install the gen 3 with gen 3 tranny...After a little improvisation here and there...tried to start....ecu totally rejected gen 3 tranny..pulled it replaced with origional tranny..
Decided I needed to simplify the swap..IE it;s only a motor right? the "brain cannot tell if its a gen 3 or en 2 ..only the sensors tell it anything....sooooo if I remove all the epa krap it will not know its a gen 3 or a gen 2 right???
EOC canada supplied a 40+hp tune plus a beautiful 3 pc turbo back ss exhaust... Installed tune, started engine,
having built many interesting rides, my current other is a deleted 6.7/stick ram and a 436 hp chevy ss (holden commodore)...I have a pretty good idea of performance...
My 2014 eco is a really nice running rig.
.Now have over 5k miles on it...the gen 3- 8k mile engine is no 6.7 BUT repeat BUT it has a lot of get up and go. lets face it its a dohc 3 liter tiny engine...I am averaging 22 mpg plus, at 75/80 it has a lot left, great merge performance, a limo compared to my 6.7 2008 ram.
So yes a gen 3 will work if totally deleted including a banks intake..Not simple but a great package once done..
I am running 15/40 rotella, at 5k miles still pretty clear, will be changing at max 6k .I will be changing the bosch pump next.
The 8K engine had a clean oil pan and sump, Intake was oily soot no buildup but swirl valves? sensor controlled? I have had no codes since startup, only problem has been "electtronic throttle control" because Of blowing cold air return.. Have now fixed that I hope... but runs great in "limp" so not a major issue.
So installing the later engine does work, it has plenty of performance with the stage 2 tune, and banks manifold with a clean exhaust.. Milage at 22 plus in a truck in nc, hilly country to me at 75+ is great..

Here is one option and I am sure there are others. Fraser

Vaden in Savannah was quite sure 22-k plus was crate engine... I have seen 12? on this site but did not know where that came from...And of course that was a gen 2 engine..since you cannot put a gen3 into a gen 2 truck...
