What are the differences in these engines I find nothing saying they are the same, but everything seems to match up pretty well specs wise.

I thought the sprinter eco was an inline not a v6 but I could be mistaken

Yeah I was thinking the pro master ecodiesel that is the inline.

The sprinter v6 vs the ecodiesel v6 is just a different manufacturer. Vmi/fiat 3.0 ecodiesel vs. sprinter/Mercedes 3.0 diesel (I'm honestly unsure who actually manufactures it)

The only thing they share in common is that they are V6s, have the same displacement, and both use common-rail injection by Bosch.

Mercedes makes their own engines. The 3.0L V6 is engine code OM642, and it has been around for a while now (2006). Cast iron block, very different layout of engine components vs the Motori engine. Good workhorse of a motor. If I were to guess, I'd say the Merc OM642 is a more durable engine.

But remember Pontiac used to run a 2.7L I4 so not that far off from a diesel 3L

Lol. I didn't have much experience but never had much for issues with the 2.7 years ago

Gm just favored the 2.2 for economy and standardized it.
