Good afternoon all,
im looking for some help. About a year ago I got a code for #3 glow plug and just ignored it. I live in Mississippi and it’s not to cold here so I just left it. A month ago I got the dreaded crank shaft position sensor blues. Let’s just say I can’t take my truck to the dealer and we all know why because I am missing a few parts.
Found an Indy shop that could do the work. While it was there I asked did he feel good about replacing the glow plug. I discussed the issues I read on forums and we discussed the steps. Blow out the crap, spray penetrating oil, let it sit etc. He stated that he did all of that. When he went to pull the plug he stated that he didn’t even get movement and it snapped. He stated it felt like the old Fords when the plug burnt out and welded itself to the head. More than likely he was rushing and it broke. It is what it is.
My truck has 206k miles. If it wasn’t for the truck shortage and is moving I would punt but for now I need the truck I have. I have it where it will crank and drive by zip tying the glow plug and grounding it to the motor. That is the short term fix. I don’t like it.
Is there a way that I can keep my truck running and not have a burning hot glow plug by these plastic pieces. The plug bounced up and did scorch the plastic on the injector a little. Any help would be appreciated
