Once you tune, there are two wire pigtails on the egr you are able to disconnect. One is brown the other is black. I don’t think the cover needs to be removed to access

After decommissioning the system, leave the thermo-coupler operative, check to see if the tuner wants the bypass disconnected, its OK to disconnect the EGR valve.

You mean contact SFT and ask about the bypass ? Sorry TC D im new to these diesels. By decommissioning you mean after tune is installed ? Looks like the orange connector is the one to unplug the egr ? Thanks

We have to change language and stop using Words like delete, it has come to My attention that some advertisers are dropping any site that promotes deactivating any AECDs. Mesat just call Me 763-228-7121

Make sure you unplug your pigtails after you tune
Wondering why you say that.
I've been tuned for 4 years, did not disconnect or unplugged anything and have had no problems.

Sofa keeps egr active unless you need a tune to remove it. The egr will function unless completely unplugged. My monitor showed egr operational until unplugged

Tune company actually called me and said I don’t need to unplug anything so I’m gonna go with that for now

I got mine last November and ran stage one for 15k all with egr unplugged. Jimmy told me to either leave them both connected or disconnected. If you unplug one but not the other the engine will slightly surge

I'm still confused by you.

You said, "Sofa keeps egr active unless you need a tune to remove it."
Yes, When you order an SFT tune you must elect to Remove (Turn Off) the EGR or not by checking the "YES" square or by leaving it blank.

Then you say, " The egr will function unless completely unplugged"
I have an SFT stage 1 tune with the EGR turned off (Removed), It is not unplugged or modified.
Are you saying my EGR is not turned off, that itis still functioning?

Sorry for the confusion,
I should have rephrased that. What I was trying to say was you need a tune to remove the egr. His tune to the best of my knowledge keeps egr active but it allows you to unplug it.
my understanding from Jimmy back last November or December, even though I selected that I didn’t have an egr, the ecu recognizes that the egr is plugged in and will still function. My scan tool detected the egr was operational from commanded position and current position. When you unplug the egr the computer will recognize the egr is not in the system and will adjust accordingly. Once I unplugged my egr, the commanded position would show but the actual position continued to stay at zero.

NOW, that could be the computer tricking itself, or it could be continuing to function. I didn’t want to take the chance. What got me really thinking was, why do I need to unplug both plugs to the egr if it’s not functioning? When I unplugged one but not the other, my engine developed a surge from the egr opening and closing.91EDDE82-7C48-499D-9906-0DA96E24B667.pngFB614422-36CA-4BBE-9D87-C670A0075FBC.png

Ok so on my SFT order form, Beside the “egr removed“ ?? I checked the yes box.
So what are you saying I have ?? An Active or An Inactive egr ?????
Are you saying it still on or is it off? Unplug something or Don’t unplug something???

My tune order also says egr removed, I unplugged it for peace of mind to ensure it could never operate again.
