Truck Year

Last week my truck just stalled on the road and I had to have it towed home.
I was reading no codes so I proceeded to change the Fuel Filter. No change it
just crank with no start.
After reading all the posts about the Tone Ring problems I concluded it was
the problem.
Well I do have the tools and decided to get it done.
The Dodge dealer got my part overnight for $63 overnight

Jacked the truck and started to remove the transmission supports and Drive
shafts ( heat required to loosen up the blue Loctite) off the housings. Then removed
the 2 front tires and wheel wells to
remove the rest of the transmission to motor bolts. in no way I could find the
layout of the bolts. did find 2 (17mm) on top harder to get at but was able to remove
them by removing the top exhaust pipe on the right side of the motor.
Accessed the torque converter bolts trough the Starter hole. There were 3 groups
of 2 bolts for total of six. size of socket was 13 mm if I remember right. as most of the
socket sizes required were 13, 15, 16, 17, 21 mm.
No way the job could be done without the front liners and tires removed.
The Transmission was pulled back about 4 in without unhooking any lines. In fact
I did remove a bit more stuff thinking I was going to pull back 6 in.

Removed the flex plate with 21mm socket on the 8 bolts. The ring was located behind
the balancer. The Balancer and Tone Ring is assembled using the pin on the back
while the washer ring and Flex plate are aligned with the hole on the balancer.
Also the bolts are arranged that only one way it can fit in. Did take my time as i needed
hold all four parts to but firs bolt in.

The transmission did go in well once I levelled it sideways with my jack. Put in
the first easy bolt and it pulled right in. After a few bolts around in I proceeded to
Install the Torque converter bolts (guess it Torqued at 35Lbs but check it)
I was able to fish the converter by using a flat screw driver to turn the torque
converter till I felt the bump the bolts bolt to and installed the first bolt. I should
have turned the converter first while the trans was off.

took 12hrs to remove the Tranny and 4 to finish the install after the ring was installed
and tranny in place.

Truck started as normal after glow.

Hope this helps someone else. Sorry no pictures

A 3 day job for a $63 part failure.
