Catastrophic engine failure - rear main seal failure - oil dumping

It looks like I am unfortunately joining the other Ram 1500 owners dealing with a catastrophic failure of a 3.0 liter eco diesel. I was driving home from work on Thursday 09 April 2026, in traffic maybe doing 45 mph and I noticed my oil pressure gauge jumping around. So I pull over in the breakdown lane and shut the truck off. I look under and see oil dumping out between the engine and transmission...I knew it right then - the engine is done.

2018 Ram 1500, original owner, daily driver, no heavy towing, 94,892 miles, full EGR delete recently.

I had the truck towed home and then pulled the oil filter followed by the oil pan and my worst fear has been realized.

What is really the cause of the bearing failures, crank failures, and rear main seal failures on these engines? I have changed the oil religiously, and the truck has all the recalls completed, including the HP fuel pump.

Trying to decide next options.

I love the truck overall, however this engine really has me questioning what to do.
