Just bought a 14 promaster 3500 with the diesel. It has ect code and is in limp mode. But I drove it 65 miles home. Smells like burnt computer board. Any ideas? Thanks

You have guts... I bought one with chips in the filter..running .. The owner was a prince..honest..and told me upfront the issue..
I being of unsound mind thought "hey this is a creampuff, I have to have a DOHC diesel"...I will just change the engine....
If I have learned anything??? buy a code reader autell works, about $35 and see if it will clear the codes...at least read them...
There are a lot of great minds on this site who can help your issues...

I am not repeat am not computer savy...I justify that by pointing out I am so old I was landing 1200 mph birds on mini (old ) carriers
The F35 is no faster just loaded with computers we had none...
The eco is a neat little italian designed engine...all the specs are unheard of in a diesel... 4 valves per cylinder,Double overhead cams, turbo boost that is probobly 20-25 psi again not normal...BUT in any engine getting clean air/fuel to the cylinder is critical, so most use a simple manifold to transfer that clean air..
In comes darth vader (EPA) and supercharged darth vader california..
To meet "clean air: standards in a tiny diesel engine but of course one takeoff in a passenger jet makes more pollution than 100 eco,s...
WE have an intake with butterfly,s and a motor to drive them, multiple sensors to control them...But this is only the intake,,,then there is the exhaust with more sensors and a screen to "wash" at specified intervals..
Yup a ton of "codes" and of course carbon to screw up the sensors...
All you can do if you live in a "big daddy" state is read codes, clean sensors, and delete codes if possible.
If you live in a not yet big daddy state Ahhhhhhaaa you can pull all the krap off and find out what the engine can really do..
Having owned a lot of quick cars still own a under 5 one ..I am amazed at this little deleted 3 liter gem... But I did drive it in stock form long enough to be underwhelmed...
A great truck that has been screwed by epa...BUT if deleted A great truck.
Yes I am biased..
Read the codes, no question that cleaning sensors can do a lot, I also see people cleaning that diffuser tube into mnifold from egr..
number have found sensor between ex manifold and turbo to be an issue and showing up as service electronic throttle..
I had service e throttle that was caused by cool side turbo leak, so that reading covers more that you think.
Since I am dealing with a gen 3 engine in a gen 2 truck fully deleated my issues are not same as yours..But i do not have all the sensor issues that are on a stock truck.
I think the eco is a great truck, I also have a 6.7 /stick fully deleted it is a crude example of the ram by comparison . The eco is a limo
