Mystery Dongle!?!?

Ok, maybe it's not a dongle...

I've had Jolene for about 5 weeks now. She's a '17 and just turned 60,000 miles.

Yesterday, I did an oil and filter change, air filter changer, and fuel filter change. Whilst poking around under the hood, I noticed the thing in the attached pictures. It looks like it should be attached to something, but it ain't. The truck runs fine (other than what I mentioned in my initial post, but I'm quite sure that is unrelated), but I feel like I should probably know what this thing is.

Help, please.

That looks like it's in the vicinity of the hood lamp connector. Do you have a hood lamp?

I've never popped the hood at night, so I honestly don't know. I assumed that it had one... I guess I assumed pretty much all vehicles had one.

That's for the optional hood lamp. Some trucks have it some don't. There's a hole in the metal frame above it on the white part that it snaps in to
