New on site - need egr advice

Hello everyone. I have a 2015 Ram 1500 with the ecodiesel that has 170,000 miles on it. I did the egr delete on the ecm but left the valve in place. It's now leaking fluid from the cooler externally and I'm pretty sure into the intake.
My mechanic keeps telling me that the coolant to the turbo is routed through the egr and plugging the coolant line ahead of the egr stops flow to the turbo. Is he mistaken?
