Hi, my name is John. I just got a 2016 ram 1500 tradesman with 62,000 miles.
It’s currently at the dealer getting the egr valve replaced under warranty along with a speed sensor on the driver’s front wheel (not covered).
Hoping that’s as far as they have to go. Keeping my fingers crossed.
When I get it back I want to change the oil. Auto zone says Shell t6 5/40 is okay.
Oreilly’s says no and recommended Royal Purple Duralec 15/40. Who’s right?
I don’t want to get this wrong. Thanks for any input.

Check manufacturer specs, normally they recommend Rotella T6 or Mopar, if something happen to engine and you did not use it they may void your warranty.

Yeah, I’ll check with the dealer when I pick up the truck. I just might go with Mopar just to be safe.

This TSB shows that Ram recommends T6. Any dealer that wants to sell you away from T6 is a dealer to avoid.
