Oil catch can results

Was wondering if any one installed a oil catch can? Brand recommendations? Did it help relieve or minimize the soot in the intake manifold? At this time I do not plan to do a delete, that may change. I do have 125000 miles on the 2020 and currently replacing the intake manifold, under warranty but almost at the end of the warranty.

A better approach to soot reduction would be to Get an OBDLink MX+ adapter, Alfa OBD app, and a bypass cable for the OBD port and turn off the EGR and the EGR temp sensor. This will stop all exhaust gasses and soot from going in your new intake manifold.

I need to correct my previous post about turning off the EGR - This doesn't actually do what I thought it would. I just learned that it disables the EGR bypass valve so that all the hot exhaust doesn't get cooled, so it raises your Intake Air Temp. Turning off the cooler output temp sensor keeps the ECU from sensing that the EGR temps are high. With both disabled, the ECU just uses default values for its fuel calculations. Sorry for the bad info.

However, an EGR restrictor can be made for under $10 and a trip to a hardware store like ACE. First, get a 1 inch sink drain strainer (stamped metal with holes punched in it. Next, go over to the nuts and bolts section and get a washer that takes up as much surface area of the bottom of the strainer. Something like a 1 inch body washer with a 3/16 inch center hole. You will need some steel safety wire (.032 or .041 inch dia). Tie the washer in the bottom of the strainer and make sure its snug. Installation is done by inserting the restrictor into the EGR tube near the EGR cooler. Loosen the bolts on the intake side and remove the EGR cooler side bolts. It fits just perfect. Reassemble. I've been running a restrictor like this for 60k-80k miles. Combined with a stage 1 type tune, it really cuts down on soot.
