I want to introduce this thread for good banter. I’ve found so many posts on here about trucks’ engines going belly up because of spun bearings and lost oil pressure.

I was almost one of those truck owners about 20,000 miles ago at 180k. This information is not going to be complicated. Use an engine flush like BG engine cleaner. Follow the directions to the letter. I did two flushes to be thorough.

Drop your oil pan. Clean the pan very well. Clean your oil pickup. Take your time, get all the sludge. You’re going to spend extra money on oil by flushing the engine. It’s fine, it’s worth it.

I am hoping this reaches the people who really need this. I went from zero oil pressure and panic over maybe needing a new engine to my truck running like new again. Cheers.

Sooooo even tho you have no epa krap.... You still had carbon buildup..... Very interesting.... My guess is the high turbo boost blows enough by the rings to very slowly build in the pan/pickup. My 199K takeout engine was running fine BUT began showing metal in the filter. It was totally stock. My gen 3 that I put in had a real 8K on it, and had soft-loose carbon on the egr tube..But pan was spotless.
The power of this tiny italian gem is hard to believe ONCE YOU PULL ALL THE KRAP OFF.
Over many many years I have had a lot of various engines BUT never had this kind of turbo boost. Had a roots blower on one but not this much boost.
Now at between 2500-3000 miles on the installation I notice the oil is darkening more that I would expect...not as dark as my 6.7 which is totally deleted BUT has 198K on it ,that engine has never been cleaned, so the oil since I bought it at 148K was always darker than I like.
I am going to change the oil in my eco at no more than 5000 miles, maybe even less, but really keep an eye on color and condition.
i am also going to put a real pressure guage in for boost and oil pressure.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TRUCK..
