Is there a scanner out there, that’s doesn’t cost a leg, that would be good to use for eco diesel and other passenger vehicles? I don’t want to get one that is strictly set for one vehicle. I have a 2014 Ram Tradesman with 100k mileage. Check engine light is on now. I do not want to take Ram to dealer anymore because warranty is up on exhaust system. The last time light came on, dealer found water in air box and ran a force regen to clear code. That’s reason for a scanner to be able to do forced regen. Is there any reason I would not want this feature and any tips y’all can share? I bought the truck for fuel mileage in 2021, and never had any intention to use for pulling. I live in Indy and use this for daily driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Traptor71, I recently purchased a Kingbolin K7 scanner on their website for $299. It can do regens and many other fuctions helpful for DYI mechanics. Maybe it is still on sale.

Alpha will do just about everything WITech does (except flash) IMO it's the best Scan/Diagnostic tool for Rams.

My icon t8 from harbor freight has the forced regen. In general it is a very capable scan tool. I'm a dealer tech for Kia And have mainly Asian import experience. I bought the scan tool for the occasional used car I get ropped into looking at when the used car techs can not figure it out. It was like 900 bucks. For me that was reasonable especially factoring in the capability of the tool.
