Hello everyone,
Long time listener, first time caller, I have a 2017 1500 with 143,000 mi and my truck lost power with the Service Electronic Throttle Control warning on the dash. I limped home from work and checked here first and watched some videos. Most common thing I saw was to clean the EGR tube and the MAP sensor. I cleaned both and I actually got a new code; P0299 - Underboost Condition. I thought maybe the MAP was so clogged that it deteriorated something or me cleaning it messed it up. I slept on it and woke up the next morning and started it up and got another new code; P04DE - Cold Start EGR "A" Flow is excessive. I purchased a new MAP and after I installed it, I got another new code; P0402 - EGR system is flowing too much exhaust gas back into the engine. With the engine off I can clear the codes but it does not take long for all three of them to reappear after start-up.
I can hear that the engine sounds "throatier" on the EGR side, almost like there's a valve that opens up and stays open. It's not an exhaust sound, its also not the engine itself, as in RPMs stay the same. Any help is greatly appreciated.
