Takin in the scenery

Hi, I'm Max and new to the forum. The wife and I are on a road trip and just enjoying all the scenery. I also git the best mpg since I've bought my truck. One question I have is, how difficult is it to change out the glow plugs? My dummy light came on.

Depending on which glow plug, most take about 30 - 40 minutes to replace. My dealer charged me 1 hour of labor.

Before you go changing out glow plugs, try moving the connector on the plug - twisting, push/pull, etc. Then reset the code and see if it comes back. All this does is ensure the electrical connection is good. I have had two separate glow plugs pop a code, I did this and the code never returned. The truck starts just fine, even in winter.

This is true for the 2nd gen EcoDiesel (2014 - 2019). The 3rd gen EcoDiesel (2020 - 2023) is a different type of glow plug and are prone to fail much sooner than the 2nd gen plug.

Sounds like they didn't improve much in areas that should last longer and perform better for one of the vital components on our vehicles. This is a bit frustrating.
